During the Jasna Góra Harvest Festival and Farmers’ Pilgrimage in Częstochowa, Polish President Karol Nawrocki emphasized the crucial role of farmers in safeguarding the nation’s food security, cultural heritage, and rural communities. Nawrocki highlighted the importance of the countryside in upholding national sovereignty by maintaining a reliable food supply. He stressed the necessity for governmental support for farmers facing challenges such as droughts and frosts, ensuring they do not have to confront these adversities alone.
Nawrocki commended Polish farmers as custodians of the nation’s land and cultural legacy, pointing out the significance of rural communities and organizations in preserving Poland’s traditions, religious customs, and family values. He acknowledged the contributions of farmers’ organizations, volunteer fire brigades, and local authorities in maintaining folk culture. Nawrocki also voiced strong criticism against initiatives that could jeopardize Polish agricultural land, advocating for legislative measures to keep Polish land under local ownership and safeguard the productive nature of rural areas.
Expressing his disapproval of the European Union’s Mercosur agreement, Nawrocki warned of its potential negative impact on Polish farmers and agricultural productivity. He also criticized the EU Green Deal, advocating for a more considerate approach toward the concerns of Poland’s rural population. To amplify the voices of farmers, the president proposed referendums on climate policy and the Green Deal, but lamented that these were rejected by senators. He urged lawmakers to pay closer attention to the issues faced by farmers and rural communities.
In his address, Nawrocki reiterated his commitment to supporting the Polish countryside, asserting that rural communities are deeply aware of Poland’s national interests. He expressed confidence that they would continue to protect the country’s traditions, land, and agricultural future.
