Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, as both nations aim to bolster their cooperation across several sectors, including trade, education, science, culture, and political relations. This visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to deepen the diplomatic ties that have been in place since February 4, 1950.
The visit follows a recent initiative by former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, who traveled to Poland in January 2025. During that meeting, both countries expressed their intention to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, highlighting the mutual desire for stronger diplomatic and economic collaboration.
Economic cooperation remains a pivotal area of focus, with bilateral trade between Việt Nam and Poland reaching approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, reflecting a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam’s key exports to Poland include electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products, while Poland supplies machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
Tusk’s visit is expected to serve as a platform to explore new economic opportunities and enhance cooperation across vital sectors. The two countries are keen to pursue closer commercial ties and broader collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges.
The strengthening of ties between Việt Nam and Poland demonstrates their ongoing commitment to advancing shared economic and diplomatic interests, building on their historical relationship and seeking new avenues for partnership.
