Polish President Karol Nawrocki has called for increased economic and strategic cooperation with the United States, suggesting the establishment of a regional service hub for American military equipment in Poland. Speaking at the Polish-American Economic Summit in New York, Nawrocki emphasized Poland’s potential to bolster its role as a central player in both defense and energy sectors in Central and Eastern Europe.
Highlighting opportunities in the defense industry, Nawrocki proposed that Poland not only purchase American defense equipment but also involve Polish companies in its production and servicing. He specifically mentioned the creation of a European PAC-3 service center in Poland, leveraging existing industrial capabilities and domestic firms.
In the energy sector, Nawrocki outlined plans to transform Poland into a major gas hub by utilizing U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. He noted that Poland is already channeling some American gas to Ukraine and aspires to expand its influence as a regional energy hub. The proposal includes plans for Poland’s first nuclear power plant, further solidifying its energy partnership with the United States.
Nawrocki also addressed the potential for Polish-American collaboration in the automotive and pharmaceutical supply chains. He pointed to the strategic importance of the Port of Gdańsk as a gateway for American goods entering Central Europe, which could also support future reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.
