Polish President Karol Nawrocki emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent U.S. military presence in Poland during discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. The focus on security cooperation was a key topic as Nawrocki attended the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Nawrocki outlined ongoing efforts to enhance military and economic ties between Poland and the United States. He noted that discussions with American defense companies are actively underway, aiming to expedite contracts and investment projects within Poland. This highlights Poland’s strategic focus on bolstering its defense capabilities through U.S. support.
The Polish president revealed that Trump has shown support for increasing the long-term U.S. military presence in Poland, a move that aligns with Poland’s goal of deepening its security partnership with the United States and strengthening its role within NATO. Nawrocki called for further dialogue between Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth to advance these initiatives.
Beyond military cooperation, Nawrocki addressed Poland’s aspirations to secure a permanent position in the G20. He mentioned that Poland plans to garner international support for its bid, engaging with various governments, including the African Union, to build momentum for its inclusion in the group.
During his address at the UN General Assembly, Nawrocki planned to focus on Poland’s security concerns, regional and global crises, demographic challenges, and the persecution of Christians, reflecting the broad spectrum of issues Poland is addressing on the international stage.
